The Pettibone Traverse is the industry’s only line of telescopic handlers with an extendable boom that traverses horizontally. With up to 70 inches of horizontal boom transfer, users can place loads precisely without having to coordinate multiple boom functions, bringing an added level of safety and efficiency to the jobsite.

Traverse telehandlers feature a unique traversing boom carriage that moves loads horizontally, unlike any other telehandler. With up to 70 inches of horizontal boom transfer, it allows precise load placement without moving the machine. This capability is critical for masonry and construction contractors, enabling easy placement of loads on scaffolding or rooftops without complex boom manipulations.

The Traverse also gives operators the ability to land loads at the specified lift height. With a fixed boom pivot, it’s a general rule that the true lift height is several feet lower than advertised, since operators must account for withdrawing the forks out of the load at the correct angle to avoid tipping. By simplifying the task of landing difficult loads, Traverse elevates safety and efficiency standards on the jobsite.

The Pettibone Traverse material handler is renowned for its exceptional hydraulic circuit, delivering efficient performance, fast cycle speeds, and smooth, intuitive load handling with single joystick, pilot operated controls.

Cylinder cushioning prevents wear from hard stops and load spills. The sway cylinder offers 24 degrees of frame leveling (12 degrees right and left of center), 20% more than typical telehandlers, and automatic fork leveling enhances cold weather performance. The standard quick attach system allows the Traverse to operate with various attachments, making it a versatile all-in-one material handler.

Visibility

The Traverse telehandler offers superior visibility compared to others. Its chassis and boom structures enhance sight in all directions, using a single lift cylinder for better rear sight lines and a side-mounted engine for excellent curbside visibility.

Even models with outriggers maintain good visibility to the fork tips. The design eliminates the need for slave cylinders near the boom hinge, providing an unobstructed rear view. An optional rear-view camera system is also available for advanced safety and machine handling.

Reliability

Pettibone telehandlers are known for easy maintenance and rugged durability. The Traverse is equipped with the works for superior longevity, featuring a Cummins Tier 4 Final diesel engine, Dana high steer axles, and a Dana Powershift transmission for long-lasting performance.

It uses all-steel hydraulic and fuel tanks for puncture resistance, with a lockable, accessible fuel-fill. Filters and fluid indicators are easily accessible, and the boom’s interior is service-friendly. Repair and maintenance on our telehandlers have never been easier. Non-tensioned boom hoses further extend service life.
